The Jigawa State Government has suspended all Durbar activities for the upcoming Eid-El Kabir celebration across the state as part of preventive measures against the third wave of COVID-19.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini.
It said the state government has, however, directed all the five Emirate Councils in the State to abide by the Government directives.
He explained that the directives followed a circular from the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19, putting six states and FCT on red alert.
The Government has also directed for the decentralization of Eid Prayer to neighbourhood Friday Prayer Mosques (outdoor) and observation of limitations on all indoor gatherings.
The statement further felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Eid-el- Kabir celebration and urged the general public and Religious Leaders in the state to be mindful of the potential for a wider spread of the virus during large gatherings.
